By default, SharePoint’s out-of-the-box functionality does not support fully customizable rank rearrangement for list items. SharePoint users are allowed to reorder items or folders manually for link lists only, which has made the default tool even further less applicable for most users.
SharePoint List Item Ranking has considerably extended the native capacity of SharePoint by offering the following invaluable features:
1. Supports manual item rank rearrangement in all types of SharePoint lists.
In any type of lists, by simply clicking the corresponding buttons, SharePoint users can move an item up and down, as well as move it to the top and to the bottom effortlessly. Moreover, when having to deal with numerous list items, users are offered the option to move an item to a specific position directly, which will speed up the process by helping users get rid of unnecessary steps. Therefore, with the application of SharePoint List Item Ranking, deliberate planning before item creation is no longer a necessity for users, since they can rearrange those items into any orders they want afterwards with a great ease.

2. Allows users to reorder the list items in each view separately.
Users are able to enable or disable the reordering feature for each view individually. Once the order of items in one view has been changed, the ranks in other views will not be influenced. Therefore, the list items can be differently arranged in each view based on users various requirements and preferences.

3. Enables users to decide which columns of lists to be showed in the reorder page.
With this capability, users can considerably save their time and efforts especially when there are quite many columns existing in a list, yet only one or two of them are needed to be displayed when rearranging the order of list items. For instance, if the reorder is time-oriented and the list items can be reordered solely based on the value of “Start time” column, then users are allowed to hide the other columns, such as “% completed” in the setting page to make the sorting much easier and more accurate.
Therefore, more than just making manual rank rearrangement available in all types of lists, SharePoint List Item Ranking also enables SharePoint users to do it in a more effective and efficient way than ever before.
SharePoint List Item Ranking is a new and powerful tool to customize lists and libraries according to the users' preferences. Imagine users need to access an item every day, or to prioritize lists according to specific requirements that cannot be met by SharePoint default sorting patters. SharePoint List Item Ranking allows for rearranging the order of items or folders in the lists, so most important ones can be sent to top, items that are no longer important can be send to bottom, or to any position in list or library.
In a given list, the user usually just has few options on how to sort items.

There are two ways for changing the item ordering in default SharePoint environment, either by choosing to order from A to Z or Z to A:

The other option is to select according to which column the list items should be grouped by in the modify View window by Group By:

To enable List Item Ranking, or to change it settings, click the List Item Ranking Settings link on the List Settings page.

In the following page, select the list and library views where List Item Ranking should be applied. By setting up different views in the List Item Rankings settings, users can reorder the list for each separate view. Thus, each of them can rank the list items according to their preferences.

For each view, the columns to be displayed on the ranking page can be selected. To switch between view, click on the Previous and Next buttons. The name of the view will be displayed above the column selector.

After enabling the product a button will appear in the Actions Menu. This button is available in the Standard View and the Datasheet View and Gantt view. To change the order of items in a list or a document library, click this button. A new page will be opened where the list items can be moved.

In this page the item to be moved in the list or library can be selected by checking the checkbox left of it. After this the item can be moved by either pressing the Up, Down, Top, or Bottom buttons, or by entering a value in the Reorder Field. Once the list is reordered, click OK to conform the changes.

After selecting an item, there are several ways to change the position of this item. Firstly, the user can move it up or down one position by clicking the Move Up or Move Down button.

To move the item to the top or bottom of the list, either press the Move to Top or Move to Bottom button. The view will change, so that the user will always see the item he is moving.

The last option to move an item is to specify a position in the list by entering number in the list. So if the user wants to move Chile to the third position, just enter 3 in the "Specify item position number" field.

After clicking the Move Item button, Chile will move to the third position in the list. Again, the window updates itself and the user will see Chile in the new position.

After finishing all the changes, click OK to confirm them. After that the list with the new item order will be displayed.

Site Collection License
Farm License
Purchase FAQ:
- What is the difference between a Site Collection License and a Farm License, and which type of license should I choose?
- A Site Collection License is applied to a specific Site Collection and refers the number of end-users on that ONE Site Collection. A Farm License refers the amount of end-users the LARGEST Site Collection within a particular Farm.
- A Site Collection License is better if you only have one Site Collection and your Site Collection ID is unlikely to change frequently (your Site Collection ID will change if you reinstall SharePoint or transplant your SharePoint data from one server to another). If your Site Collection ID changes, contact our sales team for assistance.
- A Farm License is better if you would like to install a SharePointBoost product on multiple Site Collections or if your Site Collection ID frequently changes.
- If you are still unsure as to which license type is best for you, please email sales@sharepointboost.com for assistance.
- What are "end-users" and how do they affect my license size? How do I find how many end-users I have on my Site Collection / Farm?
- Our software uses the standard established method by Microsoft to determine the amount of end-users in a Site Collection or Farm. An end-user is defined as any user who has been authorized to access any site in your Site Collection or Farm. If they have access to your site, they are counted as an end-user.
- Before purchasing a license, please think carefully about how many people will need to access your site (meaning any part of it) and delete any users that no longer require access in SharePoint. To find the number of end-users you have in a Site Collection or Farm, please check the license management page (this will appear after you install the trial version of our software on your SharePoint servers), or download and run the free End User Viewer Tool available here: http://www.sharepointboost.com/end-user-viewer-tool.html. The End User Viewer Tool can also be used to delete inactive user accounts.
- Our licenses increase in increments of 100 users. This means that if there are 155 people who need to access your site, you will need to purchase a 200 end-user license.
- What will happen if I add another server to a Site Collection / Farm? How will this affect my license?
- If you add new servers to an already existing Site Collection or Farm, your license will still be valid as long as the number of end-users does not exceed the number allowed by your license (e.g. if you purchase a 200 end-user Site Collection License, your license will always be valid for 200 or fewer users regardless of the number of servers).
- If the current end-user number exceeds the end-user number allowed by my Site Collection License / Farm License, what will happen?
- If the current end-user amount exceeds the amount of end-users allowed by your license, the original functions and settings of the software will NOT be influenced until you change them (e.g. additions, deletions, modifications, etc.) At that time, you need to upgrade your license by contacting sales@sharepointboost.com. Note that upgrades will incur additional fees equal to the price difference between the old and new licenses. For example, if you purchased a 200 end-user license for $399 and you want to upgrade to a 300 end-user license with a list price of $449, you only need to pay for the difference in prices (in this case $50).
- Which payment methods does SharePointBoost allow?
- PayPal:
- The preferred method of payment is PayPal. You can either purchase SharePointBoost products via PayPal account or via credit card. If you would like to purchase a Farm license or a Site Collection license where the total number of end-users is greater than 900, we will generate a PayPal purchase link and send it to you in an email (paying via purchase link does not require that you have a PayPal account).
- Secure Purchase Link:
- If purchasing our products through PayPal is not possible for you, then you may contact sales@sharepointboost.com to get a secure purchase link generated and then emailed to you. Here you may pay with a credit card online, by phone, or by fax.
- Bank Transfer:
- If purchasing our products through PayPal or via a secure purchase link is not possible for you, then you may contact us to get bank information for a wire transfer. Note that you are responsible for any bank transfer fees.
- If you do not specify one currency from USD, HKD, JPY, or EUR, we will take USD as the default payment currency.

- A request for a refund will only be granted if it is received BEFORE the license code has been sent.
- Does SharePointBoost offer a discount for non-profit organizations, government agencies, or educational institutions?
